Update

I've been a couch potato. It's true. Not by choice of course. Doctor's orders. The internet doesn't work in the room I'm residing in for now so although I've had the time, I haven't been able to blog. So, here is the update...

Every year for my birthday we go to Little America for dinner. This year we went a little early due to my surgery ON my beloved birthday. I was so excited to have Ben with us this year.

Another birthday celebration with my favorite little sister. We LOVE cupcakes so when my Aunt Diane told us about Mini's Cupcakes, our lunch destination was an easy choice. We had yummy soup and a yummy sandwich and of course...a mini cupcake! They are adorable little cakes all with their own adorable little name. We love to make and decorate cupcakes so we got/stole some great ideas. Not to brag but we can make even BETTER cupcakes. I just know we can. Maybe someday we'll open our own store.

Other than having my foot cut open in two places and had some bone chiseled away, my birthday was great. My Dad wrote me a beautiful card. Some of my good friends brought balloons and other trinkets. Jess said she's getting me a gift in New York (totally worth the wait!), and Ben gave me these beautiful flowers (he does a great job with flowers I must say!) along with a day at the spa, including a pedicure when my foot heals. I was spoiled to say the least.

Here I am on day two of the surgery. I had to have my foot elevated 18 inches above my heart for one week and my foot could not touch the ground. Talk about tricky. I'm not the best person on crutches. Even the one little stair to get to the bathroom was daunting. I'm getting pretty good now. It's been a week and I'm now allowed to walk on my foot a little bit with my crutches. What a sight to see. I was telling Jess and my friend Erin that I want to try to go to the gym to at least lift weights or something next week. They both busted up laughing. Rude. I guess the thought of me going to the gym, in a boot, and with crutches, would be quite a sight to see. I guess I better wait until at least the crutches are in retirement until May when I have my OTHER bunion foot fixed! Everyone said I wouldn't do the other foot because I would be too scared. Honestly, it hasn't been that bad. The surgery went perfectly and the pain isn't too bad. The worst part is not being able to get around. But once I'm all healed I'll have two normal feet and will be back in business!

One final birthday celebration. My Mom, and now Jess, always makes the worlds best homemade spaghetti for my Sunday birthday dinner with my family. I guess I kind of like being treated like a princess on my birthday. What girl doesn't!?! Jess made dinner and for dessert we had Belgian waffles with ice cream, whipped cream, and homemade hot fudge. We learned this little trick on the cruise. It was to dine for!

So that is my life in a nutshell. Thanks to my friends for coming to visit and keep me company. And THANKS to Dad and Jess for taking such good care of me. I'm a happy girl, boot and all.

Happy belated b-day! It sounds like you were still able to celebrate despite the foot thing :) I hope your foot is doing better and I think you should open a cupcake shop...I know I'd be first in line on opening day. :)
